Thoughts from former Airline Pilots that are now with Metro

I left the airlines for a job that I could come home from every night.  A job that gave me a much higher sense of purpose.  There is nothing like flying a heart back for transplant on Christmas Eve. Knowing that you had a hand in helping someone.  Metro has a good schedule, compatible pay and very supportive.  You’re more than just a number on a seniority list.  – Former Captain

When the position came available, I could not believe a high quality pilot position in the FAR Part 135 world was only 30 minutes from my home. After 28 years in the airline one thing I realized was I didn’t want to be on the road any more. With Metro, I’m home every night. Another perk is our insurance. Metro pays 100% of your medical, dental, and vision insurance. This was a savings of $1200 a month to me. Lastly, as a pilot some of us in the airline world are just not ready to be grounded. I fly just enough to enjoy it and the missions I fly are rewarding. – Retired Captain

I chose Metro because I was told by a good friend of mine that they are a family run company who cares about their people. Which I have experienced that to be true. I have young children and wanted to be present while they are growing up. Metro offers the opportunity for me to see them everyday, at least part of it depending on day or night shift, and equally important stability. The regional airline I worked for wasn’t able to provide either of these. It is also very rewarding helping people when they are truly in need. – Former Regional Pilot
